Writer’s Block Mod

Position You're Applying For: Writer's Block Mod

Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? No, this would be my first.

How much availability do you have in an average week for performing mod duties? I am online (pretty much) every day and should be able to devote the necessary time to the comm without a problem. There will be weeks that are more difficult than others, but I am good at organising my time.

Have you participated in this community before? Oh yes, it's my HiH playground.

Suggest three challenges for use in this community:
~ minor characters: the challenge is to write a story about a minor character/minor characters that we don't know much, if anything at all, about. To fill their story with life.
~ wish list: people comment with a prompt, storyline, scenario that they've always wanted to read, a list of these prompts will be put together and writers are encouraged to grant someone a wish. I would have to think about whether I want to do this anonymously with a reveal at the end, or not.
~ picture prompt: a selection of pictures to get the creative juices flowing

If there is a dispute about points or the challenges within this community, how would you handle it?
I would think that points according to length of fic is a pretty clear-cut rule which doesn't leave all that much room for argument. As for the challenges, I could see that as having the potential for opinions to clash. I personally treat the prompts as the inspiration they are meant to be as this comm is all about getting people to write, getting rid of one's writer's block and writing stories in a short amount of time. What exactly people are inspired to write, varies from person to person.
All that said, should a problem arise, I would first of all like to hear why the person in question thought they were being treated unfair, then try to find a solution everyone can live with. Or tell them that the rules are the rules, depending on the situation. ;)

Why are you interested in being the mod for this community/contest? As mentioned above, it is one of the comms that I participate in most often. It is thus dear to me. I love a good challenge and I like to encourage people to write, get back into writing or spread their writing wings.

Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? None, so far.

How much availability do you have in an average week for performing mod duties?
Lots of time! I check my email quite obsessively so if there's an immediate concern I'll probably get to it within the day, at most. I'm free on weekdays from the afternoon onwards, since my classes end relatively early; weekends are pretty much clear of any real daytime RL commitments.

Have you participated in this community before? [info]hh_writersblock really does uphold its name from me. I do my best to regularly pick a challenge and write just to keep practicing. I also browse the challenge posts for plot bunny sparks when I'm in writing funk. I've got a real love for the writing communities at HiH and would love to see them even more active than they've been.

Suggest three challenges for use in this community:

The Fairly Odd Pairing - Write about that pairing you've always been a little intrigued by. This isn't about rare pairs, this is about Flitwick/Olympe, Crookshanks/Mrs. Norris, The Bloody Baron/Peeves and others along that same vein. Bring the romance, the crack, the humor, the fluff, and anything else pertinent to your vision.

Epilogue: The Remix - The epilogue was one of the most discussed aspects of DH. Whether you'd have preferred a long and angsty piece, an even happier version, or a classic succinct ending of "Rocks fall, everybody dies!", this is your chance to write your perfect HP Epilogue.

Evil Downtime - When they're not plotting to take over the world what do these HP characters get up to in their spare time? Tell us if Lucius Malfoy really spends that much time on his hair, does Voldemort bake cookies for his most loyal, and is Bella's voice really more suited to a heavenly choir when she's not hissing and shrieking at everyone?

If there is a dispute about points or the challenges within this community, how would you handle it?
Challenges are generally pretty clear in what they cover but of course there may be room for dispute. If it gets to this point, the writer will get a chance to present their argument on why I'd have made a mistake and I'd give them my reasons based on the comm rules. I'd make sure any conflicts don't get resolved in a public way that may result in drama, and if they need to be made public I'd get the HiH mods' approval first. I make a point to keep a calm tone and level head in disputes which comes in handy in such situations.

Why are you interested in being the mod for this community/contest?
I've immensely enjoyed participating in [info]hh_writersblock and would love for it's participation and interest level to continue growing. I believe that with dynamic prompts, members would be motivated to contribute especially because of its unique 30 minute challenge that encourages creativity from inspiration.
